Privacy Policy

The Fletcher Report is an independent trailer specification reference. This page explains, in plain language, what information is collected when you visit the site, what is not collected, and who else is involved.

The short version

• There are no user accounts, and you are never asked to register.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade information about you. There is no market for it here and no interest in creating one.
• Google Analytics is used to count visits and see which pages and searches are useful. It sets cookies.
• The feedback box on the comparison tool is deliberately built not to collect names, email addresses, or any other identifying information.
• Some outbound links may be affiliate or dealer referral links. Those are disclosed below.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site records basic technical information each time a page loads. That includes your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the page you requested, the page that referred you, and the date and time. This is standard web server and analytics data.

We use Google Analytics 4 to aggregate that information. Google Analytics places cookies in your browser and assigns a random identifier so that repeat visits can be counted as one visitor rather than several. It also records which filters and searches are run inside the trailer comparison tool. That last piece matters: when a search returns no results, the site records the filter combination that produced it, because that is how we decide which manufacturers to add next. It records the filters, not the person.

Google processes this data on its own terms. Its practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy, and how Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Information you give us

The comparison tool includes a feedback box for reporting a wrong specification or requesting a brand. It is intentionally designed to accept only the text of your message. It does not ask for, and does not store, a name, email address, or phone number. If you type identifying details into the message body, they will be stored as part of that message, so please do not include anything you would not want kept.

The site does not currently operate a mailing list, a contact form that captures email addresses, or a lead capture form. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any such form goes live.

Cookies and how to refuse them

The only cookies this site sets are those used by Google Analytics. They do not give us access to anything else on your device.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and every major browser allows this. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the comparison tool.

Affiliate links and referrals

The Fletcher Report may earn a commission when you click certain outbound links to manufacturers, dealers, or retailers and go on to make a purchase or submit an inquiry. Those programs may use their own cookies to attribute a referral, and their privacy practices are their own, not ours.

This does not change the specifications published here. Figures are verified against each manufacturer’s own published data, and no manufacturer pays for placement, ranking, or a more favorable presentation. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies.

Service providers

Three third parties are involved in delivering this site:

• Webflow hosts the website and processes standard server logs.
• Google Analytics provides the analytics described above.
• jsDelivr, a public content delivery network, serves the comparison tool’s data and code files.

Each may record technical request data as part of delivering content to your browser.

How long data is kept

Google Analytics retains user and event data according to the retention period configured in the property, after which it is deleted automatically. Aggregate reporting, such as monthly visit counts, is retained indefinitely because it contains no information about individuals. Feedback messages are kept until they have been reviewed and acted on.

Your choices

Because the site does not collect names or email addresses, there is usually no personal record to look up. If you believe we hold information about you and want it deleted, or if you have a request under a privacy law such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR, write to us at the address below and we will respond.

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

This site is intended for adults shopping for or researching commercial and utility trailers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
